A Personal Quest
for Meaning
IN HER GENIUS began as a question. A quiet but persistent longing to understand my own creative essence—what I was here to offer, and how to share it authentically. In early 2021, after years of drifting between cities and projects, I found myself at a crossroads. I wanted meaning. To find it, I started interviewing women I admired—over 40 in total—each of them navigating her own path of courage, intuition, and creative genius.
“At times it serves to look without, to find our within”
The First Book & The Spark of Something Deeper
At the same time, something unexpected was reawakening in me. I wrote a short children’s story, and without overthinking, I asked a dear friend to illustrate it—Michela Chiarelli.
Michela and I had known each other for years by then. She wasn’t just a friend, or just an illustrator. She was also my teacher. My guide. A seventh-generation Italian shaman and Priestess, the last living matrilineal healer in her lineage. I had been studying with her quietly, privately—called back to a magic I had felt since girlhood but had never fully understood.
And yet in that moment, we were simply creating something small and joyful together. That little book, The Mouse Who Spoke About Everyone, became the first title published by IN HER GENIUS. It felt playful, light—a whisper from something deeper I couldn’t name yet.
The first book, The Mouse Who Spoke About Everyone, marked the beginning of IN HER GENIUS.
Discovering the Larger Purpose
Shortly after, Michela shared a manuscript she had written with her friend and collaborator, Tiziana Ghiggia—a book that hadn’t yet found a home with an Italian publisher. I offered to publish it through IN HER GENIUS. Why not? I had the tools. I loved bookmaking. I wanted to support their voices.
I didn’t know then that I had just answered my own question.
What began as a creative experiment—an independent publishing house without a clear direction—suddenly had a pulse. A rhythm. A purpose.
Over the next year, it became clear to me: my devotion lies in translating and sharing the deep, embodied wisdom of women like Michela—traditions rooted in ancestral lineage, in earth-based spirituality, in the sacred feminine that predates organized religion and resists commodification. These were not abstract ideas. They were living traditions, at risk of vanishing.
So I followed that thread.
Today, IN HER GENIUS is not just a press—it is a vessel. A place where forgotten knowledge is remembered, where sacred texts are given voice in new languages, where the mysterious, the magical, and the maternal are restored to their rightful place at the heart of culture.
This work is not fast. It is not loud. It is devotional. And it has changed me.
And I hope, as you read the books we publish, it changes you too.
TOO MUCHNESS & LITTLE SENSE
IN HER GENIUS celebrates and reclaims the path of "too muchness" and "little sense," transforming these once-derogatory labels into symbols of strength and authenticity. It honours the women whose brilliance defies tidy categorisation, those who live passionately, intuitively, and boldly—even when their choices are dismissed as irrational or excessive by conventional standards. This phrase serves as a tribute to women who remain unapologetically true to themselves, drawing upon their intuition to create, nurture, and transform the world in profound ways. It is a celebration of the vibrant, innate genius that flourishes when women embrace every part of who they are—especially the parts that society has deemed “too much.”
